After his bows for the Bruch, Kennedy beseeched somebody in the double bass section to do a bit of jazz with him. He struck out there, but cellist James Denton took the plunge. Playing pizzicato, he offered a rusty blues accompaniment. - Charles Ward, Houston Chronicle 10/18/00

On this page for streaming are Bach’s Prelude to the 3rd Unaccompanied Suite for Violoncello from a 1987 faculty recital at the Punahou School in Honolulu pictured right (the rest of which may end up on a subsequent CD!), as well as the Adagio from the Toccata in C Major for Organ, BWV 564, performed during the Offertory at a 1986 worship service at University Christian Church in Fort Worth, TX, and the Adagio & Rondo by Weber from a 1982 performance at the Music Academy of the West.

The CD page contains excerpts from the CD that was released on December 12th, 2013, including Zart und mit Ausdruck – the first of the three Fantasiestücke, Op. 73 by Robert Schumann, the Prologue from the Sonate pour Violoncelle et Piano by Claude Debussy, and the Largo from Chopin’s Sonata, Op. 68. All these pieces can be heard in their entirety on the CD.

Finally, I want to acknowledge and thank Christian Schubert, Acting Associate Principal Clarinetist of the Houston Symphony and Recording Engineer for Schubert Recording Services, for salvaging and digitizing all of my old cassette and reel-to-reel tapes, many of which had only one play-through left on them! He gave new life to what I thought was dead.
